Questions and Data

There is some residual magic in the control room surfaces but something blocking its flow.

High powered clerics may be abler to raise beings well past the normal constraints

What happened to souls during the low magic times?

Behind the Aerie is a much bigger graveyard that contains the large number of people who died during the crash

Mount Ascension is where the gods ascended. This is where the Lich Queen was trying to reach at the point of the fall. She who Sleeps on Roofs was instructed by the Son to allow the undead onto Mount Ascension. It is likely that the Son was looking for another ascended being to balance the pantheon. Because this was blocked, he was forced to destroy the Tercera to maintain his own sanity.

Redactionists are holding knowledge to disseminate if world was in imminent danger. The suppression treaty the treaty of Pendaran.

The Swords of the Seasons

Each sword contains the soul of one of the beings who ascended to the pantheon of Haven.

During the demon wars (before the previous Exodus) all 13 adventurers created phylacteries for their souls in swords.

Peter Kovak was trying to find worlds off the chain or, at least, further up the chain. He gave his sword to the eladrin who fled to Haven.

The swords serve as a backup measure to maintain the planar barriers in the event of a disruption of divine power (as happened during the fall)

Each sword needs to be in possession of a descendent of the soul’s owner. With the suppression of knowledge, each eladrin house was aligned to the blood of the 4 remaining swords.

Eladrius’ sword may still exist and 8 other swords were lost upchain.

Eladrius’ vault would contain the genealogical data as to the proper owner of each sword.

Each sword knows its proper owner. Voss is now the head of the Winter household and has access to the family vault.

The Aerie of Winter’s Journey

At the point of the Fall, the Aerie of Winter was on a mission to destroy the locus of the shadow realm in Treacher’s Folly. This was the anchor for the undead.

As the Fall happened, magic became inaccessible and the Aerie lost power. However, the fail safes  worked briefly (before also failing). This was, however, enough time for the helmsman to control the Aerie’s crash. Kostelle (Voss and Olen’s sister) was one of the casualties of the crash. She may haunt the observation deck.

The survivors of the crash moved across the plains (what are now the plain of sighs) in order to survive. Fifty years ago as magic returned (and shadow advanced) they retreated back across the plains. Many died in this retreat (becoming the pillars we encountered on the plains)

Kirkoff (one of my less incompetent students) thought he could open a portal to another world (as was done during the exodus). If he did this, the ritual would have consumed him.

It was a bit of a shock to discover that the heads of the Aerie were aware of the planar jumping. They kept this information from me even though my expertise could have aided to an incalculable amount.

Ambrielle (one of Kostelle’s companions) was from the family of Summer. She died on the retreat back across the Plain of Sighs.

Contacts were sent to Ascension after the Fall but none returned. It is likely that they were killed as being Eladrin (who were blamed for the fall)

The Control Room

After laying several of the guard to rest, we entered the control room where we encountered the ghosts of Voss and Olen’s parents. Like the guards, they were convinced that we were undead. During the battle that resulted, Voss was able to convince them that we were not, in fact, undead by using a mirror of true seeing within the control room.

The Lord and Lady believe that it is 50 years ago. At the time, undead were overrunning the Aerie. The younger members were fleeing through the portal which they had managed to activate. The Lord and Lady do not know where the portal went (they maintained this ignorance on purpose)

We have put Voss and Olen's parents to rest. The Aerie's shadow reflectrion is gone.

When we enterred the library again, the librarian reversed his notes. This would indicate that his records were corropted by the fact that the Aerie itself was reflecting a reversed view of the world

The Citadel

Now we must pass through the Hall of Heroes in order to get to the seat of power, the Citadel.

Within the Hall, old stains of blood have become fresh pools of blood. Ghosts of gladiatorial combat in the center of hall fight, cheered on by other soldier ghosts. The ghosts actually seem to represent parts of the room itself, memory of the room’s past. Upon defeat, the room faded back to its original faded state.

We moved through the Hall and into the keep on the top of the Citadel. We are coming across the remains of a battle from several decades ago (approximately 50 years).  Some of the bodies appeared to have suffered from energy drain. The timing of this battle matches approximately with when the Shadow enveloped this area.

The remains of fighting gets increasingly dense as we continue. There is sign of arcane magic having been used. This would be a sign of arcane magic in use slightly before other places we have seen. The signs of fighting reach their thickest outside the audience chamber and control room of the Aerie.

The audience chamber is guarded by the Nefleheim household guard who are ghosts. The guard reacted to us as if we were undead and attacked us on sight. The mirrors surrounding the room reflect their belief (showing us as undead and them as alive). We dispatched the guards and are preparing to enter the control room.

Ghosts of the Aerie’s past

We continue through the Aerie of winter.

Reaching where one of the primary cargo elevators was, we find that the side of the Aerie has been sheared off. Here the influences of the shadow forces upon the Aerie are most visible. There is a shadowing echo of the missing parts of the Aerie that continue. These shadows remain level (unlike the Aerie itself that is canted due to its crash).

We can see movement near the top of the Aerie.

We have chosen not to pass through the shadowy echo parts of the Aerie and are, instead taking an alternate route through the Hall of Heroes. The Hall of Heroes is what separates the martial areas of the Aerie from the University. We can hear the echo of training within the Hall.

We have skirted the Hall of Heroes to go to the Library.

Voss and Olen are worried that the spirit of their great grandfather is somewhere within the Aerie. He is the most infamous of the Nefleheim family. He impaled thousands of Goblin Natives during the conquest. He was executed as a tyrant after the war.

We are going to the Library. All of the walls show a slight shadow echo (the echo is true where the real walls are slightly askew). The Library has been ransacked but there is some sign of the books being rearranged and restacked.

Within the library a skeletal librarian sits behind a desk. Upon seeing myself, Voss, and Olen he crossed three things out in a book. The book seems to contain lists of eladrin associated with the Aerie. Older names are more crossed off while newer names are not. Rationally, it would seem to be that the names crossed off would represent Eladrin who had died. This is contradictory, however, with what we have just seen.
